Press conference
Slovenian University Sports Association presented the organisation structure of the Universiade 2013, anticipated investments and other project-related expenses at today's press conference, held at the National Assembly. The representatives of SUSA and local communities have presented the project yesterday to the new Minister of Education and Sport, dr. Igor Luksic.
The anticipated expenses of organisation and realisation of the sport event, including organising rights fees, are estimated to 15 million Euros. The investment costs comprise of the investments into sports infrastructure (ice halls, jumping slope...), sports-tourist infrastructure (skiing slopes, shooting range, cross country polygon...), accommodation capabilities (hotels, apartment suites, student campus...), road and other infrastructure. Investments are estimated to 250 million EUR, majority being intended for accommodation capabilities, followed by road and communal infrastructure, and sports-tourist infrastructure.
The sources of financing are divided between state budget, local budgets and organisers activities. The sources for road and communal infrastructure are guaranteed from the local and state finances, while most of other funds will be drawn from private investments and European funds.
The organisation, financing and investments are to be confirmed by the Organising Committee of the Universiade Maribor 2013, presided by the Prime minister of Slovenia, Mr Borut Pahor. The Committee will meet on Friday, February 6, 2009 in Ljubljana.
